In My Front Yard

The winter can sometimes be really challenging to find new things to photograph. But its important to get out and push yourself as a photographer. I like to get out and let the crisp air tickle my nose.

Two weeks ago I happened to look outside and found something new to photograph. In my front yard nibbling on a crabapple remnant was a cute little squirrel. I quickly grabbed my camera and headed out to see if I could get him in action.

I was so excited to photograph something different. Being able to photograph always makes my day great. I am so happy with how these images turned out and I am so glad to add these squirrel images to my animal gallery.

This past week while I was out enjoying the sun, I happened upon a cute little woodpecker and a Robin catching some sun. Photographing animals is always exciting and challenging. But I like to push myself and learn more as a photographer.

I can't wait to get outside this week and see what else I can catch in action. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

My Hobby: Restoring old photographs to their original glory

When I was in college studying Graphic Design, a couple of my classes were learning how to fix photos. This became a fun hobby for me. When I'm not photographing I like to experiment in restoring old photographs to their original glory.

Going through my family albums I found a couple of my mom's family pictures that were in desperate need of restoring. I love being able to fix and restore the photos to their original colour and get rid of scratches and other imperfections. Below are some of the before and after images I have fixed up.

The Beauty of An Ice Storm

This past week, I had the pleasure of waking up to an ice covered wonderland. Although an Ice Storm can bring many perils, whether its having to drive on ice covered roads or even get to your car without falling. Ice can also be beautiful to photograph.

Luckily, I had nothing pressing that had to be done in town. I was able to see the pretty crab apple tree with its apples ice covered and see the trees covered in a layer of ice. I hiked up my tracker boots and decided to venture out. Getting out of my house was a little challenging as the steps and walkway were covered in a thick layer of ice, but after I slid into position I started photographing.

Some of the results are below. Enjoy everyone! I hope you see the beauty in Ice. As long as you don't have to drive in it or walk in it. I hope you weren't too effected by the Ice Storm this week and that you all made it to where you were going with not a lot of headache.

This Week: Roses

Roses have always held a special place in my heart. My great grandmother's name was Rose and whenever I visited my Grandmother's house, hanging above the couch was a rose painting, done by my very talented Great Aunt. She painted her family tree as roses. Her mother (my great grandmother Rose) was the big pink rose and underneath the rose was a big rock which represented her father (my great grandfather Peter). Dark burgundy roses were for the boys in her family (my great uncles and grandfather) and the pink roses were for the girls in her family (my great aunts). To me the roses meant family and the painting always gave me a sense of love and warmth.

This week, I decided to photograph a rose. Roses are so beautiful and delicate and have many layers but they are also protective of themselves through the thorns on their stems. In this cold January weather I wanted to photograph something beautiful and warm. Here are the images I was able to capture with my camera, the natural window light created some great shadows and in some of the photographs the petals formed a sort of heart shape. Enjoy Everyone! I hope these bring a warmth and beauty to your eyes.

The First Week of January 2017

As the first week of January 2017 comes to a close, I am reflecting on how beautiful it can be to photograph snow when it's hit by the sun.

Earlier this week, I was able to photograph a lightly snow covered lilac tree in front of my house. As I watched the sun peek through the blue skies, the snow began to sparkle and shine. Some of my favorites are posted below. Photographing is never boring to me, I always find something to photograph thats new. I like getting out in the mornings to get photographs, that to me makes it a great start to the day.

My Top 16 Nature photos of 2016

Hello There,

Welcome to my very first Blog Post! Im so excited to start a Blog to showcase what I have going on in my Photography Life.

Let me start by talking a little bit about myself. I have been photographing since I was about 8 years old. Before that I was busy studying images. My mom had this shoebox where she kept all our photographs, I remember climbing up on her bed and dumping the photographs and looking at all the memories and people. I loved looking at all the expressions and seeing relatives during the special moments in their lives.

I received my first camera which was a disposable one, when I was around 8 years old. And thus my fate was sealed. Since then I have been photographing everything I could. Photography is my passion, I love photographing anything and everything.

Since New Years is fast approaching, I decided to take a look back and showcase my Top 16 nature photographs of 2016. I was trying to narrow it down to 12 but decided not to because it was so hard to choose but I think I have a wide range of my personal favourites from this year. I hope you enjoy them and I wish you all a Happy New Year and a great 2017.
